Colour Cards

BAUWERK Colour Cards make is very easy to compare shades of lime wash paint colours or arrange complimentary colours. They are easy to pin up on a wall and viewed from a distance. Usually they narrow down the choices, before Sample Pots are ordered to confirm the final shade of colour for a project.

Our Colour Cards are painted on a special paper for easy handling. Please keep in mind that lime wash paints always seek to bond to an absorbent surface. Differences in absorbency influence the intensity of the final colour and the specific and changing light conditions also create a very dynamic colour appearance.
That makes selecting our colours so exciting, but also not a process where you can tick a box and get the exact colour you saw on the colour card or a picture.

1. Order the shades of colours you feel are most like what you want to achieve
2. Pin the Colour Cards on the wall at your project and view them in different light conditions
3. Order Lime wash Sample Pots and apply them to a test panel if you are very particular about your selection

Yes, each Colour Card is hand-painted with 2 coats of Limewash Paint.

The colour on the Colour Card is accurate, however the appearance of colours once applied to the wall, can sometimes appear slightly different. This is due to the way light works on different surfaces, it also due to the beautiful light refractive nature of pigments and Limewash.

It is very important to view your Colour Cards vertically against the wall and in the correct light, this is because of light refraction, it is always better to look at the card in the actual space, perhaps view the cards over the day to see how the light changes.

We have two different fan decks available. They are also hand painted and assembled.

Our Large Cross Range Fan Deck features 35 pages with 4 colours on each page (a representative cross section of about 1/3rd of our online colour range). Our Neutrals Fan Deck has 26 pages and focusses mostly on neutral colours.

The Master Set Colour Book contains our entire range of lime wash colours, it comes with colour notes and represents the culmination of nearly 20 years of colour development by our colour specialist Bronwyn Riedel.

Many of the colours have notes attached for easier selection.
